Marijuana Is Good Medicine

“Our study contradicts commonly held beliefs that medical marijuana is being overused by healthy individuals,” the authors write. “The most common reasons for use include medical conditions for which mainstream treatments may not exist, such as for migraines, or may not be effective, including for chronic pain and cancer.”

In considering the efficacy of any kind of medical treatment, we should listen first and foremost to the patients. The debate over medical marijuana has largely been dominated by vested interests and advocacy groups on either side – patients’ voices have been either silent or ignored completely.

This Republican Congressman Is Trying to Keep the War on Weed Aliv

On Friday, at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, United States Congressman and noted anti-pot advocate John Fleming of Louisiana decried the nationwide trend toward the decriminalization and legalization of marijuana, in the process spewing out a bunch of discredited myths that could have come straight out of decades-old war on drugs propaganda films.

TRENTON, NJ — A bill to add post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, to the list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana in New Jersey was filed Monday.

The bill, Assembly Bill 3726, is sponsored by Vincent Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) and Linda Stender (D-Middlesex, Somerset and Union).

Phoenix will not tax medical marijuana

PHOENIX — City Council members agreed this week they would not impose a tax on medical marijuana, but would seek a fee for recreational marijuana sales.

While the city’s only medical marijuana dispensary, The Greenery, was forced to closed its doors this summer by court injunction, Mayor Jeff Bellah said the council did not agree with the idea of taxing medical cannabis.

Pennsylvania Senate expected to pass medical marijuana bill

HARRISBURG — Legislation to permit the medical use of marijuana in Pennsylvania is poised to clear the state Senate, but movement is expected to slow — perhaps to a halt — if the measure reaches the House.

The bill, championed by Sen. Mike Folmer, R-Lebanon, would require patients to secure a doctor’s authorization and would not permit the marijuana to be smoked.

His proposal moved toward the Senate floor Tuesday with a 21-5 vote of the Appropriations Committee. Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, R-Delaware, said he expects the full Senate to vote today with an “overwhelming majority in favor of the bill.”

Uber-like MMJ Company Eaze Sees Local Opportunity in Medical Marijuana On-Demand

Last year, Keith McCarty, a former sales director at Yammer, saw a convergence between two popular, if not suprising trends: on-demand services and medical marijuana. The result is Eaze, an Uber-like medical marijuana delivery service that he launched just over a month ago.

Like the other on-demand services out there, Eaze lets users easily order a specific strain and quantity of marijuana, finds the nearest deliveryman with that specific strain in stock, and then tracks the deliveryman in real-time to get an accurate ETA. Eaze says it can deliver marijuana in San Francisco in roughly 10 minutes.

First Medical Marijuana Sales In CT Expected Next Week

Sales of medical marijuana in Connecticut are expected to begin next week as the first grower prepares to make shipments to dispensaries around the state, nearly two years after the state legalized the use of marijuana to relieve symptoms of some chronic illnesses.

“We are on track to make a Monday delivery,” Daniel Emmans, chief operating officer at Theraplant LLC in Watertown, said Friday. “Over the weekend, we will be arranging the deliveries at the dispensaries.”

Six dispensaries have been licensed by the state to sell medical marijuana, and those contacted Friday said it was likely sales would begin one day after shipments were received at their storefronts. That could put medical marijuana for sale as early as Tuesday.
